Dr. Robert A. Andreotti, 82, of Westerly, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, at The Westerly Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (Wagner) Andreotti and the late Jennie (Kieronski) Andreotti.
Born Feb. 5, 1930, in Milford, Mass., he was the son of the late Attillio and Mary (Jionzo) Andreotti.
Dr. Andreotti graduated from Milford (Mass.) High School; he received his BA in education from Worcester State College, his MA in education from Harvard and his Ed.D from Boston College. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, Sampson Air Force Base, Geneva, as a math instructor.
Dr. Andreotti taught for the Wayland public schools from 1955 to 1967, was superintendent of schools, Dobbs, N.Y., from 1967 to 1977, was superintendent of schools, Chariho Regional School District, from 1977 to 1992, and a consultant for ARC, of northern R.I.
He was a member of the Rotary Club, RISSA member emeritus, an avid college sports fan, loved his family, his lifelong friends and his community. He was very generous and his stories were rich with character. He also loved to travel and loved good food.
Besides his loving wife, he will be sadly missed by his children, Robert J. Andreotti and his wife, Sandra Skogen, of Santa Fe, N.M.; Jania Andreotti, of Boston, Mass.; Sandra Loggia, of Memphis, Tenn.; and Bette Strickney and her husband, Herb Kaiser, of Exeter; a grandson, Michael Loggia, of Memphis, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 9 a.m. in the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St., Hope Valley, R.I. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Dr. Robert A. Andreotti, Scholarship Fund 37 Upton Street #4, Boston, MA, 02118.
