Ronald James "Hammer" Wills, of Lake Placid, was called home to be with his Lord early Tuesday morning January 30, 2018. Ron was born in Westerly, Rhode Island on April 13, 1947 to James and Ardath Wills. Ron was a US Army veteran serving three tours in the Viet Nam War. Ron has been a Lake Placid resident since 1970, moving from Ft. Lauderdale. Ron worked as a Florida State Corrections Officer before transferring to federal law enforcement. Ron was a Christian. Ron enjoyed fishing as well as being with nature. He was an amateur writer and oil painter. Ron was a volunteer with the Mural Society of Lake Placid. He was a past commander of American Legion Post #25, Lake Placid, past District Vice Commander, and a charter member of the VFW Post 3880, Lake Placid. Ron is survived by a sister Charleen Hoffman of Bradenton; nieces Lisa Hill, Tina Miller, Kimberly Miller, 4 great nieces, 1 great nephew, Weston. Friends will be received at the Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home for a viewing on Friday February 2, from 5:00 through 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be from the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday February 3, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Ray Cameron will celebrate. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers contributions are asked to be directed towards Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, Fl. 33870. Funeral arrangements are under the loving devotion of Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home, 404 Plaza Avenue, Lake Placid. 863-465-9997.
