April May (Clark) Coats, age 56, of Voluntown, Conn., passed away on Jan. 26, 2012, with her family by her side. She was born on June 14, 1955, in Watertown, N.Y., to Jessie M. (Champion) Clark. She married her husband Robert Coats on Oct. 20, 1984.

April enjoyed spending her days outside gardening and lounging by her swimming pool. She found great joy in spending time with her kitty cats and her dog, Nikki. She also enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. April had been employed at Foxwoods for the past 17 years where she was described as an outstanding manager. April had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Besides her loving husband and mother, April leaves behind two sisters, Jo Marie Howton, and Linda Jean Mulhearn, both of Florida. Although she had no children, she held her nephew, Barney, and her niece, Angela, dear to her. She also had several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Earl Wyatt Clark, stepfather, Fred Champion, and a brother, Earl Wyatt Clark Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Preston City Congregational Church, 321 Route 64, Preston, CT 06365.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or to the Hospice of Northeastern Connecticut, c/o Day Kimball Hospital, 320 Pomfret St., Putnam, CT 06260.
