WESTERLY - Carl J. Manfred, Jr., 87, of Post Road, Westerly, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. He was the beloved companion for 34 years of Jeanne Mance Dauray.

Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Carl J., Sr., and Caroline Manfred. Carl was the owner and operator of the Traveltel Motel on Route 1 in Westerly for and had previously been employed at B.D.A. He was also a great beekeeper and sold honey for many years. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Carl was also a communicant of St. Pius X Church and a member of the Bradford Citizens Club. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid Beagle breeder.
In addition to his longtime companion, he is survived by two sons, Carl J. Manfred III, of Suffield, and Kenneth Manfred and wife, Paula, of Carpinteria, Calif.; a daughter, Heidi Dauray, of Westerly; a sister, Margaret Coombe and husband, Jack, of Northbrook, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Erik and Brent Manfred. He also leaves behind his cherished cat, Judy.
Visiting hours will be held today, Thursday, April 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, April 25, at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly. There is no procession to the church from the funeral home.
