PAWCATUCK - Frances A. (Richmond) Maderia, 91, of Pawcatuck, wife of the late Alfred "Ben" Maderia passed away Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in North Stonington, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Perry) Richmond and lived in Pawcatuck for 37 years. For many years and up until recently, she was an avid bowler and a member of a Friday night bowling league at the Alley Katz in Westerly. Frances loved being with her family, her home and enjoyed music especially country & polka.
She is survived by her three children, Al Maderia and his wife, Carol, of Pawcatuck, Nancy Bessette and her husband, Eugene, of Pawcatuck and Scott Maderia and his wife, Sharon, of Westerly; sister, Helen Belcher, of Nevada; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Chi-Chi. Frances was predeceased by her grandson, three sisters, Dot Jonsen, Gertrude Bowden and Mae Davidson; and two brothers, James and William Richmond.
The family will receive friends at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, in Mystic on Friday, May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. A service will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Stonington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Frances's name to The Bryan M. Bessette Scholarship Fund c/o Stonington Human Services, 166 S.
