PAWCATUCK, Conn. - Elizabeth "Betty" Hindle passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2014, surrounded by her family. Elizabeth, a resident of Pawcatuck, Conn., was 90 years old at the time of her passing. She was born on May 11, 1924, in Providence, R.I., and was the eldest child of Frances Jesse (Webster) and Joseph P. Northup.

Elizabeth is survived by her brother, Kenneth Northup, of Westerly, R.I.; her sister, Virginia Maser, of Fort Collins, Colo.; her daughters, Judith Chase, of Ashaway R.I.; Michelle Clapham, of Westerly R.I.; Virginia Jason, of Voluntown Conn.; and Yvonne Hindle, of Pawcatuck, Conn.; as well as two step-children, John Hindle, of Nashville, Tenn.; and Susan Riness, of Ashland, Miss. She is also remembered by her eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Waiting for her on the other side are her brothers, David Northup, of Charlestown, R.I.; and Donald Northup, of East Greenwich, R.I.; her sister, Dorothy Church, of Holland Patent, N.Y.; and her sister in law, Martha Northup. She was also predeceased by her former husband, Thomas Eugene Hindle, of Pawcatuck, whom she married in May 1952.
Visiting hours will take place on Friday, August 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home on Main Street in Westerly. The celebration of her life will take place at Christ Church in Westerly, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 9.
