Born on Feb. 15, 1952 to Barbara Barber (deceased), Ruth was a devoted mother, friend, and caretaker. She spent more than 42 years employed at The Westerly Hospital, beginning as a candy-striper and most recently as a medical secretary. Ruthie also spent many years caring for elderly patients privately in their homes. Passionate about protecting employee rights, she volunteered for several years as a union representative for the hospital.
When not working, Ruth loved gardening and spending time with her family. Strength and a heart of gold defined her, while her clever, quick-wit made her a joy to be around. She will be sorely missed, and is survived by her children Ryan, Jacob, and Rachelle Palmer; her grandchildren Lucian Rich, and Josephine Palmer; her father and step-mother Leon and Minnie Lussier; siblings Richard and Robert Lussier, Robert Gabriel and Cheryl Bourgeois; and her companion, Richard Gagnon.
All are invited to attend her service, which will be held at Christ Church in Westerly, on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at 1 p.m.
