Davis, James Shannon  
Davis James Shannon Davis, age 43, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, February 4, 2016. He is preceded in death by his father James L. Davis. He is survived by his daughter, Grace Olivia Davis; mother, Darlene Davis; sister, Angela Pest; aunt, Shirley Festa and many cousins. He is a graduate of Upper Arlington High School and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from The Ohio State University in education. For nearly 15 years he was a teacher with South-Western City Schools. He was also a member of Crossing Community Church. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 10 a.m., until time of his funeral at Noon at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. The Rev. Doherty Herbert J. Doherty, age 69, of West Jefferson, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016. He was a graduate of Charlestown High School, Class of 1965. Graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelors Degree in Horticulture, Class of 1970, Masters Degree class of 1973. He worked 32 years at the state of Ohio Mental Health Media Center as a media specialist. Former bus driver and custodian for Jefferson Local Schools. Member of the Harvest Chapel, West Jefferson Community Association, Christmas In The Parks Committee, member of Alumni Association WVU Executive board, member of the Madison County Republican Central Committee. Preceded in death by parents Joseph and Mary Doherty, several aunts and uncles. Survived by loving wife of 41 years, Beth Doherty; son, Joe (Julie) Doherty; sister, Shelagh (Hugh) Punnell; nieces, Kelsey Bierling, Tara (Steve) Ratzel, Beth Marie (Matt) Hanna; nephew, Jay (Jill) Purnell; great-nieces, Hannah, Hailey, and Hayden Bierling, Emma and Sara Purnell; great- nephews, Nathan Ratzel, Triston and Damon Hanna; sister-in-law, Susie (Bill) Lindig; cousin, Donna Carter. Obituaries from the Past Three Days

Dyson, Robert F.  
Dyson Robert F. Dyson, 96, passed away January 30, 2016. Robert was born on August 6, 1919 in Steubenville, OH to the late Alice (Fithen) and Frank Dyson. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Helen (Weinman), and his sister Ruthella Hall. Survivors include daughter, Marge (Brent) Culver; grandchildren, Bryce (Stephanie) and Kelsey Culver; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Bob was a proud Army Veteran of WWII where he served with the 11th Armored Division in the Battle of the Bulge. He drove to Alaska in 1947 in the early days of the AL-CAN Highway. Bob retired from Ohio Bell after serving 32 years as a telephone repairman. He formerly served as president of the Steubenville Historical Society and gave numerous presentations about the early days of the city. Bob's many hobbies included: Big Bands and jazz music, hiking, golf, storytelling, poetry, photography, videography, antiques and collectibles, woodworking, and tinkering. Bob could make or repair almost anything. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Inn at Olentangy Trail for the TLC they provided during his last year of life. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Dr., Columbus, OH 43229. Davis Connie Davis, 76 of Columbus, passed away at Mt. Carmel/St. Ann's Hospital on January 29, 2016. Born on June 30, 1939 to the late James Foster and Goldie Mae (McLaughlin) Coburn in Grafton, WV. Dersom, Charles Ray "Chuck"  
Dersom Charles Ray "Chuck" Dersom, 80, born November 11, 1935, passed away on January 22, 2016 in Largo, Florida where he and his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie", moved from Columbus Ohio, two years ago. Chuck was a wonderful husband, father, and "gramps" to all his family. He will also be remembered for his service to country, and a desire to help others. Chuck graduated from South High School and worked at Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company (AEP) while attending and graduating from The Ohio State University. After college, he served in the USAF from 1957 to 1959 as a navigator while stationed in Texas and California. Chuck and Jackie moved back to Columbus where he graduated from Franklin Law School (Capital Law School). He worked as an Assistant Attorney General for both the State of Ohio and the US Attorney General Offices. He then went into private practice with Thompson, Meier and Dersom attorney-at-law, retiring in 1999. While living in Whitehall, Ohio, Chuck was a member of the City Council for several years, active in the local Democratic Party and Lions Club, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, politics, cheering on the OSU Buckeyes, and playing card games on his computer. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marian Dersom. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; son, Chuck (Ron Willard) of Largo, FL; daughter, Vicki Pritchard (Scott) of Circleville, OH; son, Steven (Myra) of West Jefferson, OH; five grandchildren, Jason Pritchard (Rosemary), Matt Pritchard, Kailee Gardner (Corbin), Grant and Nathaniel Dersom; two great-grandchilren, Addison and Paislee Pritchard; and other loving relatives. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sabal Palms, Largo Hospital and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for their compassionate care of Chuck. DeVere Cheryl (Miller) DeVere, age 60, of Hilliard, passed away Friday January 29, 2016. She was a member of Northwest Bible Church. Owner and operator of the Wiggles and Giggles Child Care where she was a nationally accredited child care provider, and a registered child care provider with Action for Children. Preceded in death by her father Kenneth Miller. Survived by loving husband of 35 1/2 years, Jim; children, Jessica and Andy DeVere of Hilliard; mother, Irene Miller of Toronto, Ohio; brothers, Gary (Terry) Miller of Olathe, Kansas and George (Sue) Miller of Weirton, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Debbie (Dave) DeVere-Miller of Hilliard; nieces, Lisa (Brian) Webster, Bonnie (Codey) Bowman, Emily Miller; nephews, Brad (Kate) Miller, Jordan Miller, Josh Miller; and a host of friends. Dunn Jr., Edward John  
Dunn Edward John Dunn, Jr., age 83, from Dublin, Ohio passed away with family at his side on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. After having a stroke in 2007, Ed was battling bladder cancer this past year. He was born on October 2, 1932 in Monaca, Pennsylvania to the late Edward John and Valla Morgan Kammer Dunn,Sr. Ed was a talented, creative, supportive, loving husband, father, grandfather and son. Ed graduated from North High School and married his high school sweetheart, Katherine "Kate" Ann Smith in 1953. In 1957, Ed graduated from the School of Architecture at The Ohio State University. He was awarded Best Distinguished Design in his class. Ohio Bell (now AT&T) was Ed's lifelong employer. While in the engineering department, Ed designed several buildings for them and on his own, built several apartment buildings and his family home. He was an O.S.U Buckeye fan and was in the Air R.O.T.C. Several of his hobbies included: sailing, fishing, snow skiing, photography and family vacations. Kate and Ed's favorite vacation place was Sanibel Island, Florida. He created sand castings, watercolors, a garden of daylilies in which he propagated different varieties and performed magic trick shows. Survived by his daughter, Jennifer Ann Dunn (Richard) Miller and son, Eric Kammer (Kath-leen) Dunn. Grandchildren, Katherine Miller, Jon Miller, Anne Miller, Ethan Dunn, Eileen Dunn, and Patrick Dunn. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife Katherine "Kate" Ann Smith Dunn; and daughter Sarah Jane Dunn. A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, February 20th at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 High St. Worthington, Ohio 43085 where calling hours will be held from 3-4 p.m. Saturday.
