Baer, Emory L. "Sam"  
Baer Emory L "Sam" Baer, went to be with the Lord on June 20, 2016. Preceded in death by parents Walter and Alice, brothers and sisters. Survived by loving wife and best friend, Frances M. Baer of 43 years; two daughters Christina and Lana; and one son Jackie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister; two brothers; several brothers-in-law and their families; and several nieces and nephews. Sam proudly served in US Army during Vietnam. Member of Crossroads Church Circleville, OH. Also a life time member of DAV and retired after 27 years with the US Postal Service (National Assn of Letter Carriers Chapter 78). Visitation will be held Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the SHAW-DAVIS FUNERAL HOMES, Victorian Village Chapel, 34 W. 2nd Ave., where his funeral service will be held Friday 10 a.m. Interment Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Church. Pastor Tim Throckmorton officiating.

Barker, Shirley Marie  
Barker Shirley Marie Barker, age 91, Friday June 24, 2016, Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was a longtime member of Broad St. Presbyterian Church and longtime employee with Franklin County Children's Services. Prior to this she taught and did missionary work for the church. She is a graduate of Ohio University class of 1942 with a Bachelors degree and later obtained a Masters degree in bible studies. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Marie Barker. Survived by sister, Janice Gault; and her children, Gail (Bill) Connell, Susan (Mark) Enlow, David (Chris) Gault, Charles (Janna) Gault; and three great nieces; one great nephew; and many cousins, other loving family and friends. Funeral service 12 Noon Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Broad St. Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Broad St. where friends may call 2 hours prior to service. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, OH. Barney, James "Doug"  
Barney James "Doug" Barney, 59, of Reynoldsburg, passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2016. Doug graduated from Walnut Ridge High School, graduated from Ohio Christian University with an Associates, and was proud to be furthering his education. He was a longtime member of Demolay as well as Broad Street United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his father James M. Barney, of the Reynoldsburg Swim Center. Doug is survived by loving mother, Vera; sister, Valerie (Rob) Freda; nieces, Tristen Greene and Mia Freda; uncles, Lester (Doris) Barney, Phil Ferguson, Joe Ferguson, and Walter (June) Ferguson; aunts, Ruth Barney and Kathy Ferguson; numerous extended family and friends. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 29, 12 noon-2 p.m. at COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, where his service will be held at 2 p.m. Rev. Baucum, Calvin  
Baucum Calvin Baucum, 76, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed peacefully away on June 25, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East after a brief battle with cancer. Calvin worked at Smith Transfer for 26 years and retired from Midwest Fender after 15 years. Preceded in death by parents Cloys and Jennie Baucum, brother James Baucum and sisters Sudie Bohannon and Ann Thompson. Survived by wife, Brenda; daughters, Melissa (Jason) Thomas, Julie (Jay) Bennis, Michelle (Don) George; granddaughters, Jennifer (Ross) Musick, Ashlea Skeens, Jenay (Dillon) Peterman, Felicia Skeens; great grandchildren, Avery, London, and Talon; brothers, Joe Baucum, Roger (Dottie) Baucum, Taz Baucum; sisters, Carolyn (Jerry) Kidwell, Joan (Bill) Alls, Georgette (Jerry) Burgett; and many nieces and nephews. Bergandine, Verna Cushman  
Bergandine Verna Cushman Bergandine, 101, of Sunbury, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. She was born November 14, 1914 in Woodstock, Ohio to Arthur and Mary Cushman. Verna had a love of art, poetry, skilled in needlework, and painting. She was always there to help others in time of need. She was a longtime member of the Sunbury United Methodist Church. She is survived by daughters, Anne Stockert of Rockwood, MI, Susan Churchill of Westerville, OH, Barbara (Duncan) Whitney of Delaware; sons, John of Harmony, NC, Charles (Karen) of Ostrander, James (Deb) of Delaware, Robert of Provincetown, MA, and Jeffrey of Columbus; 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and two great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings- five sisters and five brothers, husband Frank D. Bergandine (1983), and grandsons Scott Bergandine (1988) and Christopher O'Bryan (1991). Memorial contributions may be made in honor of her childhood church toward restorations at Woodstock Universalist Church, c/o Woodstock Lions Club, P.O. Box 202, Woodstock, OH 43084. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Sunbury United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow visitation at the church on Friday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Sunbury Memorial Park. Bergman Patty Ann Bergman, age 77, of Westerville, OH, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at St. Ann's Hospital. Retired elementary school teacher. Member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the St. Paul choir, Polish American Club and Germania Club. Meals on Wheels volunteer. Survived by her husband of 44 years, David; daughters, Kristen (Christopher) Berk and Karin Bergman; grandchildren, Avery and Britton Berk; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Leo and Stella Urban, brothers Conrad and Robert Urban. Bible, Ernest Ray  
Bible Ernest Ray Bible, age 89, passed away June 17, 2016 at the Indigo Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Daytona Beach, FL. He was born November 19, 1926 to Osee and Elizabeth Bible in Parsons West Virginia. He attended and graduated from Parsons High School in West Virginia. During WWII he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Philippines. Ernie spent most of his adult life living in Columbus, Ohio raising his family and working for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and held several positions which included Ohio State President of the Moose, State Treasurer for three years, and Governor of the Columbus Lodge. He holds the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, which is the highest degree that can be earned. He was an active member of the Eastern Star Chapter and Council of Westgate Lodge in Columbus serving as High Priest and Excellent Companion. He is a member of the Mt. Vernon Commandery, and for years donated his time to the Shrine Circus and becoming a Circus Daddy until moving to Ormond Beach Florida in 2010. He was a long time member of the American Legion Post 3764, an active Kentucky Colonel since 1974, and was named the 2002 Volunteer of the Year of the Central Ohio Diabetes Association. Ernie is predeceased by his wife Marilyn, sisters Helen, Ruth, Freda, and one brother Warren. He is survived by three daughters by his former wife Mary Catherine Close, Cathy Gray, Las Vegas, NV, Sandy (Jack) Davies, Judy (Bob) Ewing, Columbus, OH; and survived by Julie (Jim) Wile, Ormond Beach, FL. There are nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be at the EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave. on Friday, July 1 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be at Evans Funeral Home and will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2 with interment immediately following services at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. www.evansfuneralhome.net

Billingslea Jr., Hurdie  
Billingslea Rev. Hurdie Billingslea, Jr., 83, transitioned into eternal life with The Lord on the morning of June 21, 2016. After graduating from East High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Throughout the course of his ministry, he served as pastor at Quinn Chapel AME Church in Marion, OH, Payne Chapel AME Church in Kenton, OH, and St. John AME Church in Worthington, OH. In retirement, he was a member of Mt. Vernon Avenue AME Church in Columbus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Hurdie Christopher Billingslea, and his sisters Irene Ashurst and Essie Cochran. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ellie Billingslea; daughter, Angela Billingslea; son, Sean (Karen) Billingslea; adopted daughter, DJuana Drew; sisters, Mamie Moman and Gloria (Robert) Hunter; five grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Mt. Vernon Avenue AME Church, 1127 Mt. Vernon Ave., where his family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the start of service.
