Schweikart, Robert Bruce
Schweikart Robert Bruce Schweikart, 85, of Columbus, Ohio, joined his heavenly Father, December 16, 2014, following a prolonged illness. Bob was born in the family home on February 23, 1929, in Alliance, Ohio to George and Ruth Schweikart. Bob excelled in school. He was class valedictorian, an Eagle Scout, and was nicknamed "Speed Merchant" by his bantam league football team. Fishing was a favorite pastime, as were family gatherings, and playing with his childhood friends on Ridgewood Avenue. The first in his family to attend college, Bob was a 1950 graduate of Wittenberg College. After serving as a cadet in the U.S. Naval Air Corps, he attended Hamma School of Theology while also teaching theater. He then rounded out his educational accomplishments with a Masters and PhD from The Ohio State University. Bob began his career announcing classical music programs on WOSU radio. He also produced programs for WOSU Television in its earliest days on the air. Soon after, Bob helped the OSU College of Medicine establish the Ohio Medical Education Network (OMEN) which was the largest and oldest physicians' two-way network in North America. Bob finished his career as Director of Continuing Medical Education at Doctor's Hospital in Columbus. While at OSU, he met the love of his life, Dot. Together they raised two kids, passing on a love of learning, kindness to others, enjoyment of nature, and a flair for the dramatic. After the kids were on their own, Bob and Dot brought smiles to many Central Ohio children and their families through clowning, music, and puppetry. A devout Lutheran all his life, Bob was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for over 50 years, leading Sunday Scripture discussions, serving in worship, and singing in the choir. Bob loved all followers of Christ and equally loved his fellowship with his Bible Study Group at Westminster Thurber Community. Always a small town boy at heart, Bob's infectious charm and heartfelt love of humanity endeared him to everyone he met. Bob delighted friends and family with sing-alongs around the piano, playing old standards and new catchy tunes by ear. He could sing, and dance, and well into his golden years recited poems from high school English class, the Boy Scout motto, and scripture. He enjoyed trolling for fish on a quiet lake as much as shouting himself hoarse at Ohio State football games. Bob loved mornings, breakfast, trees, birds, and the family cat, but most of all, he treasured time spent with Dot. Preceded in death by his parents George and Ruth, Bob is survived by Dot, his wife of 57 years; daughter, Heidi (Leif) Johnson; son, John (Cheryl) Schweikart; sister, Gretchen Cox; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and people across the country and around the world who love him as one of their own. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 31 at 2 p.m. at Westminster Thurber Community Chapel, 717 Neil Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. Bob's family requests that any donations be made to the charity of your choice in his memory. Enter messages of remembrance or condolence at www.schoedinger.com

Siers, Isabel R. Trosper
Siers Isabel R. Trosper Siers, died peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2014 in a room overflowing with those who love her, and with the excellent care of First Community's hospice aid and support staff. She was born in Huntington, W.Va. on December 26, 1926 to Shirley and Ruby Bragg Trosper. Isabel graduated from Vinson High School in 1945 and from Huntington Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1950, earning her R.N. degree. She moved to Columbus, Ohio in the early 1950s to work and raise her family. Isabel enjoyed nursing and spent most of her professional years working at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. She served in many nursing capacities through the years. Her favorite nursing experience was working with an excellent medical and support staff while caring for patients on the former Eye, Ears, Nose, and Throat unit at MCMC. Colleagues remember her commitment to providing high quality and knowledgeable patient care, her compassion, and her incisive wit. After a thirty-five year career, she retired in the early 1990s. In the early 1960s, Isabel became an active member of Grace of God Lutheran Church, 1000 Demorest Road, and remained involved with church activities, Bible studies, and volunteerism until her illness. Izzie believed that God's "rod and staff" helped her through life's hardships and challenges and she was always the family anchor. Isabel was an avid learner and extensive reader, and in the late 1960s, while working full time and raising a family, she began a degree in the humanities at Ohio Dominican University, which she completed in 1984. During her childhood in the beautiful West Virginia hills, Izzie learned stewardship of nature, and she remained an advocate for environmental causes throughout her life. She was an accomplished gardener and amateur arborist. Isabel was also a patron of the visual and performing arts, and enjoyed many types of music. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, card games, and puzzles, especially when she shared those activities with her "grands." Isabel is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Juanita (George) Lane of Coopersville, Michigan; and four nephews; and by her children, Andrew (Sandra) Siers, Mark Siers (and Pam Ferguson), Donna (Gregory) Goodhart, Matthew L. (Millie) Siers, all of the Columbus area, and Alice (Kevin) Miller of Doylestown, Ohio. Left to cherish memories with Grandma are Nick (Katie) Siers, Lee Siers, Kathryn Siers, Sonya Gibson and Christina Marshall (AJ), Emily Goodhart Dicken (Matt), Abigail Goodhart, Daniel Miller, Lauren Miller, and Matthew T. Siers. Isabel is also survived by many great-grandchildren. Isabel's family thanks the staff at First Community Village for twelve years of excellent care. Also, thanks to Pastor Mark Diemer of Grace of God Church for his unwavering help and support through Isabel's illness and death. The memory of Isabel's intelligence, work ethic, humor, empathy, and abiding love will be cherished by those who loved her. Isabel's family hopes that her spirit, unburdened by illness, now "dances among the daffodils." Visitation is at SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 3030 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio on Friday, December 26 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with a service at 1 p.m. to be presided over by Pastor Mark Diemer. Interment will take place immediately following at Glen Rest Memorial Estate in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, PO Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871-1950. Please visit www.Schoedinger.com to share a memory of Izzie.
