Betty Jane Overholt

OVERHOLT Betty Jane Overholt died on January 10, 2013. She was born on February 21, 1922, in Lakeview, Michigan, the eldest child of Clifton and Viva (Edgerly) Youngman. Betty graduated from Michigan State University in 1943, where she was elected to Mortar Board, Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, and served as President of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After graduation, she married David Overholt at the US Naval Academy. Betty later received her Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the Univ. of Illinois. She went on to become Director of Guidance, and Assistant Principal, at Urbana High School. She was a member of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology, a co-founder of the Family Education Association, and co-editor of "Alfred Adler As We Knew Him". Betty and David also lived in Washington, D.C. and Santa Fe, NM. Betty Served as Governor for the New Mexico Society of Mayflower Descendents, was a member of the Santa Fe Iris Society, the Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce, and the Friends of the Wheelwright Museum. After moving to Friendship Village of Dublin, Ohio, in 2005, Betty remained active in the PEO Sisterhood and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority Alumni. Betty is survived by her children, Jon (Brigitte) of Fair Oaks, CA, Kristine (Steve) of Clinton, NY, Melissa (Patrik) of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
