Dorothy Ann Deaver Phillips(1941 - 2013)

Phillips Dorothy Ann Deaver Phillips, age 72, passed away quietly in the company of her family on Nov. 15, 2013 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Dorothy was born on July 15, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio to Florence and Worley Deaver. Dorothy is survived by her children, Deanna Lowers and husband Larry, Duane Phillips and wife Meghan. She is also the proud grandmother of grandchildren, Ryan Phillips, Carolyn Phillips, Jordan Lowers, Melanie Lowers, Rachael Phillips, Alicia Phillips, Jessyca Gonsalves, and Mya Gonsalves; as well as her great- grandchildren, Shayne Phillips and Anastasia Phillips. Dorothy is also survived by her brother, Robert Deaver and wife Judy; sister, Grace Deaver Oswald; sister, Cheryl Deaver Sperry and husband Brian; cousin, Harvey Norman and wife Connie; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy attended Columbus North High School and Licking Heights High School graduating in the class of 1959. Dorothy was married to Columbus Police Officer, Dean Phillips, from 1961 until 1976. Dorothy was a retired employee of Columbus Children's Hospital. She was an avid traveler and bingo player. She was a former member of the Ohio Arabian Horse Association supporting the horses she loved for many years. She loved music which brought her much comfort as she battled her disease. Per Dorothy's request no visitation or memorial service is being held. However, her ashes will be scattered in a private family ceremony in Hatteras, NC. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's society in Dorothy's name so that they can continue to provide much needed research on this horrible disease. May your heart and soul find comfort and peace and may you find relief in going where your heart is always happy. Where waves crash, the sunsets will be brilliant and you will finally be able to touch the giant silver moon. How happy you will be to spend eternity with the sand between your toes!
