Frederick Hutchins McLean

McLean Frederick Hutchins McLean, passed peacefully away to be home with Mom and our Lord November 29, 2013. Our Dad was born on August 21, 1930 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Donald H and Mary (Noni) K. McLean. He grew up in Euclid Ohio and attended Euclid Shore High School where he was inducted into the Euclid High School hall of Fame in 1992. Dad attended The Ohio State University where he met the love of his life Joan McClure McLean. They were married and enjoyed life together for over 57 years. Fred was a member of the 1951 Ohio State Big 10 championship wrestling team, where he was Big 10 tournament runner up and NCAA Division 1 tournament runner up. He was Captain of the Ohio State Wrestling team in 1953. Dad proudly served in the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant Pilot and flew B-25 bombers. He retired from the Air Force Reserves after serving 20 years. Fred and his late brother Donald K McLean were the second generation in a successful family business that is now run by the 3rd generation of McLean's. Fred and Joan moved to Bonita Springs Florida in 2002 where they enjoyed new friends, the warm weather and many rounds of golf. Fred had a true heart of gold and many would say he would give you the shirt off his back. Fred is survived by Scott (Cindy) McLean, Doug (Rhonda) McLean, and Bill (Carlotta) McLean. Fred is also survived by his grandchildren, Megan Brooks, Michael McLean, Ally McLean, Nicki McLean, Kristina McLean, Laurie McLean; and great-grandson, Kieran Brooks. In lieu of flowers, Fred and Family requests donations are made to The Valley Presbyterian Church of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Family will receive friends December 10, 2013 at the Valley Presbyterian Church of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, 17560 Chillicothe Road, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023 from 3-4 p.m., where a memorial service will take place at 4 p.m.
