Larry M. Smith

SMITH Larry M. Smith, age 67 of Springfield, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012. He was born July 27, 1945 in Bradford, PA, but raised in Dunkirk, NY. Larry was the founder of Smith & Associates Counseling Service in Columbus, was a LISW with the State of Ohio Dept. of Corrections, was often requested for his expert opinion on pending cases, held a B.A. Degree from S.U.N.Y. at Fredonia, and a M.S.W. from OSU, honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force with the Artic Survival Unit stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador, did genealogy on Colonial and Revolutionary History focusing on his ancestor Tangier, coached the Anvils Power Lifting Team, he held State, National, and World Records in several drug free power lifting associations and loved the boxer breed of dog. Preceded in death by his father Earl R. Smith, and his wife Linda (Sonn) Smith. Larry is survived by his loving partner, Rita Whip; two sons, Eric Smith (Jeannine), Larry Smith (Dina); his mother, Aliene Smith; his brother, Jeffrey Smith (Ellen); two grandchildren, Mick and Max; and a host of extended family and friends. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Community Mercy Hospice in his memory. At Larry's request there will be no public service and a Celebration of His Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements in care of the JONES KENNEY ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME, Springfield, Ohio.
