Lydia Ann Sinkora Shepherd

Shepherd Lydia Ann Sinkora Shepherd went home to be with her heavenly Father on March 19, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 21, 1934 in Martins Ferry, Ohio and was a graduate of Dillonvale High School and West Liberty State College. She taught for many years at Stanton Local High School in Irondale, Ohio and then continued her teaching career in Millersport, Ohio. Lydia was a long time member of the Millersport United Methodist Church where she volunteered in many capacities. She especially enjoyed her work with the Food Pantry. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents Ulrich and Anne Sinkora, and her husband Daniel Shepherd. Lydia is survived by her loving sisters, Louise (Michael) Vaselakes; Victory (Terry) Banal; nieces/nephews, Kevin Vaselakes, Michelle Davakis, Jimmy Banal, Jamie DaGrava, Jeremy Banal, Joy Banal; and many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by great-great nieces, Miley and Zyhia; and great-great nephew, Cooper. Lydia will be sadly missed by her family, friends and former students. She will be remembered for her love of family and great love of the Lord. Lydia has donated her body to the Ohio State University College of Medicine to be used for training of future physicians. A memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4 at the Millersport United Methodist Church, 2310 Refugee St. NE, Millersport, Ohio, 43046, with Pastor Jerry Wiles officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Millersport United Methodist Church.
