Norma Jean Jaspers(1926 - 2013)

Jaspers Norma Jean Jaspers, (nee Young), age 87, of Westerville, went to her eternal reward in heaven just before 2 p.m. on September 7, 2013, with her children by her side at home. Norma, Jeanie to her family and friends from long ago, was born in Manchester, Ohio, to Chester W. and Edith (Osman) Young on August 11, 1926. She graduated from Manchester High School in May of 1943. At 16 years old, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she worked at The Stearns and Foster Mattress Company until she enrolled at the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing. Here, she studied to become a Registered Nurse as a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps. After she graduated, Jeanie worked at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati. During her training, she met Jack Jaspers, who would become her lifelong mate and partner. Her great joys were found in being Jack's wife for 54 years and in raising their five children, Steve (Lori), Tom (Kay Wagner), David (Debra Pyer), Susan (Jim Kelly), and Deborah (Brian Miracle). Norma's legacy continues in the lives of her children, her six beautiful granddaughters, Meredith and Natalie Jaspers, Rebecca and Katherine Jaspers and Julia and Madeline Kelly. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband and soul mate Jack, baby Joseph, baby Mary Anne, baby Gerard, brother Carl Young, and sister Cora Jenkins. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Spires and many devoted nieces and nephews. In her life, Norma embodied love and consideration for others and was always a kind and gentle soul. Please honor her by showing this same love and consideration to those around you. We thank the many kind friends and neighbors of Norma who touched all our lives, during this special time of care for our mother. Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Father David Sizemore officiating at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Dr, Columbus, OH 43229.
