Sandy L. Martin

Martin Sandy L. Martin was born to the union of Esau E. Martin, Sr. and Willa T. Radford Martin on March 6, 1939 in Holden, West Virginia. He was a star athlete at East High School in Columbus, Ohio from which he graduated in 1958. He attended Indiana University in Bloomington Indiana and later The Ohio State University. For a number, of years Sandy worked for the Ohio Youth Commission. Later he became a licensed electrician and operated LOBO Electric. Sandy is preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Sanda. In addition he is predeceased by brother Esau E. Martin, Jr. and his sisters Lucille Martin Rispress, Frances Martin Simmons, Alice Martin and Jacqueline Martin Smith. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Earlene (Costella); daughter, Judge Angela T. Martin; his son, Earle C. Martin (Alexis); his three grandchildren, Ayanna M. Cooper, James L. Cooper, III, and Elijah Sandy Martin. Additionally he is survived by his brother, Charles E. Martin; his sisters, Vera Bowser and Marcia Smoot; devoted friend, Preston Harrison; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Sandy was a proud member of Second Community Church shepherded by Dr. Charlene E. Watkins Senior Pastor. According to his wishes, there will be a graveside service on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Union Cemetery located at 3349 Olentangy River Road at 10:36 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to SMOOT FUNERAL SERVICES, 614-444-1463.
