Verna (Rushay) Fisher

Fisher Verna (Rushay) Fisher, died on Valentine's Day at Kobacker House. She loved life, her family and her friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Roland; brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Marlene) Rushay; her nieces, Cathy (Don) Griffin, Mary Martha (Van) Stewart, Carol Raphael; and many other beloved nieces, nephews; grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon (Linda) Fisher, William (Dorothy) Fisher, Carla (David) Danko; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Fisher and Joan Rushay. Verna graduated from Zanesville Rosecrans High School and attended The Ohio State University. Teaching was her passion. She was employed by American Culture Center in Alexandria, Egypt teaching English and the Olentangy School District for several years. She retired from the Ohio Department of Taxation after a 20 year career. She attended mass at St. Matthias and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Preceded indeath by parents Forest and Sadie Rushay, brothers Cyril, Leonard, Vernon, Faris and sister-in-law Alice Rushay, and sister Gloria Raphael and brother-in-law Anthony T. Raphael and beloved Godson, Anthony T. Raphaell II. Family will receive friends Sunday, February 16, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 W. Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio 43065 (State Route 750/ Powell Road/ 1/4 mile east of Sawmill Parkway). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at ST. JOAN OF ARC CHURCH, 10700 S. Liberty Street, Powell, Ohio 43065 with Father Jim Black as Celebrant. Interment will be held at a later date.
