William Lee Schirtzinger(1938 - 2013)

Schirtzinger William "Bill" Lee Schirtzinger, age 75 of Gahanna, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Bill was born July 14, 1938 and raised in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Samuel and Sarah. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandy, brothers Roger and Sam, sister Louise "Jean" Langley, and cousin Larry. Bill was a hardworking man who worked on and painted cars for more than 50 years. He was a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the races with son Rick and his cat "kitty" on his lap. He also loved attending the Ohio State Fair with his daughter Marcia. In addition, Bill also liked Gahanna and Notre Dame Football and watching old John Wayne movies. He was known for his beer drinking at Flannigan's Pub in Blacklick as well as smoking a cigar from time to time. He will be greatly missed by his loving children, Marcia Schirtzinger and Rick (Kathy) Houck; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Elam; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. Per Bill's wishes, a private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Court, Hilliard, Ohio 43026.
