Main Barbara Balsara Main, of Columbus, passed away on October 10, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Alexander M. Main, Jr. and son, Alexander M. Main III of Columbus; daughter, Frances Ann (Gerhard) Ade and grandson, Nicholas Ade of Seattle; granddaughter, Victoria Elizabeth Main and great-granddaughter, Amelia Bretz of San Francisco; and sister, Marie Louise Balsara of Hartford. A singer from childhood, Barbara received her B. Mus. degree from Rollins College. For some years she was the soprano soloist at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens, Georgia. She was also an adviser to Kappa Kappa Gamma's chapter at the University of Georgia. After moving to Columbus in 1961, she worked as a volunteer at the sorority's national headquarters. At St. Alban's Episcopal Church she served as a teacher, vestryperson, delegate to the Diocese, and president of the Woman's Guild. Later she joined Christ Church Anglican. She was a board member of the Rolling Ridge owners' association and a member of the Monday Art and Franklin Garden Clubs. In her last years she resided at the Forum at Knightsbridge where she was well cared for by the skillful and dedicated nursing staff.
