Guggenaster Chrystal Neff Guggenaster, 96 years young, softly slipped away to be with her heavenly Father Monday, April 15, 2013. Preceded in death include her parents, dedicated missionaries Thaddeus and Katrina B. Neff, her adoring husband of 72 years 'Gustl', brother T. Lowell Neff, nephew Ron Neff, granddaughter-in-law Stacy Wyman and countless aunts, uncles, cousins too numerous to name. Survived by daughters, Madeleine, Carolyn (Warren), Mary, and Elizabeth; grandsons, Chris and Bert; granddaughters, Burgess and Lita; great-grand-daughter, Maggie; many cousins, their families, countless dear friends and neighbors. Chrystal completed studies in music theory, voice and piano at Peabody Conservatory of Music, Baltimore, MD. She returned to Alexandria Egypt, teaching music at the Schutz American School, her high school alma mater. Upon the outbreak of WWII, Sept 1939, she and her husband of one year, took the last ship to the states. She was a soloist at the South Wayne Avenue Church of God throughout the 1940's and continued her praise of our Lord as a soloist, choir member, choir director, teacher and active in many areas of church life at Boulevard Presbyterian (1950-1994) and Holy Trinity Lutheran (1995-2013). She provided pastoral care for patients at Riverside Hospital, taught piano and music theory in her home, was a member of the Swiss Club, the Damenchor, the Columbus Music Teachers Assoc. to mention a few and was an avid bird watcher. She was a very dedicated, quietly prayerful woman of Christ's Love and teachings. Always a delight to be with, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Holy Trinity Ecumenical Lutheran Church in her memory serves as a lasting remembrance. A service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by Prof. Emlyn Ott, D. of Min., 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 24,2013, 2001 Northwest Blvd, Upper Arlington, OH 43212. All are welcome to visit with Chrystal's family at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME. Online condolences may be made at www.deyodavis.com
