Donald L. Hinten, 91, of Columbus passed away June 7 at Tidewell Hospice, Venice, FL. Mr. Hinten was born in Senecaville, OH on Dec. 26, 1926, to Andrew and Lillie Hinten. He was a graduate of Senecaville High School, 1945, BA Muskingum College, 1951, MA Wittenberg University, 1962. Mr. Hinten was a retired Basketball coach who was inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball coaches Hall of Fame on Oct. 29, 1965 and also received the distinguished Service Award from the Central Ohio Basketball Officials Assn. for 20 yrs. of service. Retired Principal of Hamilton Middle School, Hamilton Local Schools. Member of Pt. Pleasant F&AM #360, Life Member Scottish Rite, Valley of Cols., and member of Aladdin Shrine Temple, Cols., OH, U.S. Army Veteran WWII, Life member DAV, American Legion 0159, Venice, FL., Moose Lodge 1308, Venice, FL, VFW 4719 Gahanna, OH and BPOE 448, Cambridge, OH. He is survived by wife, Marceline M. Hinten whom he married June 6, 1953; a daughter, Carole of S.C.; a son, Lance and daughter-in-law, Lisa of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Emma and Mariah (Cesar) and a grandson, Daniel. He was preceded in death by parents and brother, Richard M. Hinten. The Pt. Pleasant F&AM Lodge 360 will hold a graveside service at a later date.
