BEACH Gracie Mae Ragon Beach departed this life on December 1, 2012, aged 79 years, 11 months, 6 days. Born December 25, 1932 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the eldest child of John and Pearlie Jane Mason Ragon, she grew up with sister, Donna Jean (Merlin Cheney) and brother, Jack (Sondra). Graduating from Earlham College in June 1955 with a degree in Chemistry, she was the first person in her family to graduate from high school and also the first person in her family to be able to attend college. Married June 10, 1955 to her husband of 57 years, Arthur Johannes Beach. First employed at Chemical Abstracts Service, she left to have four sons, John Edwards, David Warner (Karen), Allen Walter, and Arthur Stephen (ex-wife, Rebecca). Proud grandmother of Steve's two daughters, Rose Mae and Pearl Ann, she also considered Karen's daughter from her first marriage, Megan, to be her granddaughter. Later employed as an income tax accountant, she worked 41 years at Universal Tax Service. Much loved by many people, Gracie was an experienced seamstress, avid gardener, and 55-year member of The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus. Predeceased by her parents and brother. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clintonville Community Resource Center, 14 E Lakeview Ave., Columbus 43202. A memorial service will be held at the church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., Columbus Ohio at 12Noon on December 29, 2012.
