Billingslea Hurdie Christopher "Chris" Billingslea, age 51, transitioned home to be with the Lord on the morning of Sunday, December 8, 2013. He was a long time and valued member of New Beginnings Non-denominational Church, where he served as a large contributor to the music ministry. A 1980 graduate of Northland High School, he spent 34 years employed by the Kroger Company. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Rev. Hurdie and Ellie Billingslea; sister, Angela Billingslea; brother, Sean (Karen) Billingslea; adopted sister, DJuana Drew; three nieces; one nephew; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St. Rev. Bob Moore, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary Monday, 9 a.m. until the start of funeral service. Interment in Green Lawn Cemetery.
