Martin Ira Paige Martin, age 93, of Columbus, on December 1, 2013, after a short illness. He was born November 23, 1920, at South Charleston, Ohio, son of Ernest Martin and Vira Paige Martin. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ernest Martin and Maurice Martin and his sister Martha Richards. He is survived by Patricia Livingston Martin, his beloved wife of 58 years. He is also survived by his children, Michelle Martin, Michael Martin, and Peggy Martin O'Connor, all of Columbus; his grandchildren, Derek and Cathy Martin of Blacklick and Katherine O'Connor of Chicago; and his sister, Jean Sheldon of Grove City; and brother William Martin of New Jersey. Ira Martin was a long time and active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall. He was a graduate of Ohio State University College of Engineering and was a licensed Professional Engineer. He served with distinction and valor in World War II in the US Air Force in China 1943-1945 as a radio engineer. He was employed as an electrical engineer at North American Aviation (where he met his wife) and at Western Electric and he later worked for Franklin County. A memorial service will be held at Kensington Place, 1001 Parkview Avenue, Columbus, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
