Loreto Dalicandro Obituary
Dalicandro, Loreto
Loreto Dalicandro, age 98, passed away peacefully at home Thursday September 13, 2018, after six weeks of sudden degenerative health. Born in Alvito, Italy on January 3, 1920. Preceded in death by father Sante (Lollo) Alicandro, mother Giovanna (D'Aquila) Alicandro, sister and four brothers. Survived by wife of 78 ½ years, Vittoria (Macioce); daughter, Gina; sons, Valerio and Tony; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and best friend, Mary Frances Macioce. Loreto immigrated to America for a better life in 1954, after centuries of poverty his family endured as sharecroppers and surviving a WWII German forced labor concentration camp. He led a happy and content life along with his American and Italian friends, all now deceased, and wishing ill to no one, but treated unfairly by many. Visitation Sunday 2-5pm at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 S. High St. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Monday at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 S. High St., on the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery, where burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
