GOLD Martin Herman Gold "Marty", age 84, of Phoenix, AZ, previously of Columbus, OH, passed away November 29, 2012. Preceded in death by his sister Gloria Goldman and parents Abe and Alice Gold. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; sons, Stuart (Marcie) Gold, Wayne (Julie) Gold and Milton (Marcy) Leeman; daughters, Lori (John) Ellinger, Lori (Dave) Iaconis and Alyson Leeman; grandchildren, Jaime Gold, Maxwell Gold, Natalie Gold, Robert Gold, Rachel Gold, Lydia Ellinger, Josh and Justin Iaconis, Mitchell and Caroline McGuire, Shelley and Hannah Leeman; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Levitin; sister-in-law, Sally (David) Oneacre; and many nieces and nephews. Marty was born July 17, 1928 in Patterson NJ. His mother died when he was age 8 so his father was forced to place him and his sister in an orphanage for shelter and care. Marty enlisted in the Navy at age 16 toward the end of WWII. He served in the submarine service in the China Theatre. Upon his honorable discharge from the service the GI Bill brought him to The Ohio State University where he studied Business Administration and was a member of the US Air Force ROTC. He was president of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity for 2 years; He was the Business Manager for the Makio year book and was a member of Ohio Staters Inc and was a huge fan of Buckeye Football. He graduated in 1953 and began his working career with Yenkin Majestic Paint. In the late 50's he started a successful career in the insurance industry and became the managing general agent for the Canada Life Assurance Co. He later incorporated to form his insurance agency Integrated Financial Systems Agency Inc. which is still in existence today. He was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table and The Presidents Club (Canada Life). Marty was a very passionate individual when it came to politics and he was actively involved in many national and local political campaigns throughout his lifetime. Marty was an avid golfer and past member of Winding Hollow Country Club where he served on the governing board. Marty adored the time spent with his grandchildren. They brought him much joy and happiness. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m on Monday, December 3 at THE EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. with Rabbi Howard Apothaker officiating.
