Mary Elizabeth Jones Obituary
Jones (Smith) Evangelist Mary Elizabeth Jones (Smith), age 75, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 13, 2014. She was born November 6, 1938 in Columbus, OH to Jasper and Frances Smith. She received her education from the Columbus Public Schools system and enriched the lives of countless others as a home healthcare provider for OhioHealth. Evangelist Jones was an ardent Holy Ghost filled crusader for the Lord. She accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age at the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith under the stewardship of the late District Elder Ernest L. Hardy. Later in life she was led to serve under the leadership of Bishop James Wallace Gaiters Sr., of the Grace Apostolic Church. Evangelist Jones was called into the ministry and served as an Evangelist and Chaplain. She was licensed and duly ordained by the Ohio District Council of Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. She had a passion for prison ministries and traveled tirelessly throughout the Midwest to share the Gospel and the love and joy of Jesus Christ to the incarcerated. Evangelist Jones was preceded in death by her parents, a son Darrell Jasper Robinson, husband Paul Robinson Sr., twin grandchildren Stephen and Alicia Smith, and grandsons Aaron Robinson and Ernest W. Smith Jr. She is survived by her children, Ernest W. Smith Sr. (Maleka), Paul S. Robinson (Marlene), Adrian B. Robinson, Pauletta A. McGee (Michael), Sylvia A. Maditsi (Alexander); brothers, James W. and Harold E. Smith; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchild; three nephews; and a host of cousins; longtime devoted friend, Maxine Long; and special friend, Barbara Smith. Friends may call Tuesday, February 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 State Street, Columbus, OH., followed by a graveside service and interment on Wednesday, February 19, at 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Ave, Columbus, OH. Minister Ernest Smith officiating. Memorial contributions to the OhioHealth Foundation.
