Peter George Smith

Smith Peter George Smith, 82, passed peacefully September 12, 2013 in Fort Myers, surrounded by his own fine art and furniture. Born in Columbus on September 4, 1931 to Anne Savage Smith and Harrison Wilson Smith, graduated from Columbus Academy and went to Yale University, where he received a BFA. Was VP of Yenkin-Majestic Paint Corp. for 15 years. Married Carolyn Wadsworth Smith on July 31, 1953. Five children, Cynthia, Lisa, Carrie and Adamm and his twin brother Andrew (died in infancy).They lived idyllicly in Galena, Ohio in a house designed and built by Peter. After moving to Sanibel Island he helped start Smith Radigan Advertising and he was a founder of Big Arts. A wonderful chef, carpenter, painter, sailor, fisherman, and writer, his wit and incredible sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded by his son Andrew, wife Carolyn, daughter Lisa Pierot, son-in-law Kim Ross and his brother Harrison (Bill). Surviving are daughters, Cynthia (John) Haas and Carrie Ross; son, Adamm (Andrea); grandchildren, Bronwyn, Anneke, Hannah and Myrna Haas, Anna and Emily Pierot, Nick, Luke and Andie Ross, Tate and Allie Smith; great-grandchildren, Jayden Ross, Layla Woods and Oscar George Bateman-Rapier; brother, Mark (Nancy); sister-in-law, Connie Smith; and friends too numerous to list. Peter's ashes will be cast upon the French River in Canada, where he spent many summer days.
