Maccracken, Jr. Ralph Ransom Maccracken, Jr., 93, of Asheville, NC, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of Lancaster, OH, he was the son of the late Ralph R. and Harriet Maccracken. He attended Lancaster High School and Kenyon College. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Julia O'Gara Maccracken and his grandson Mark Maccracken. Mr. Maccracken was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII and Korea. He worked as a professional fundraiser. Mr. Maccracken is survived by his eight children, Ann Baxter (Kenneth Donnellon) of Asheville, NC, James Maccracken of Lancaster, OH, Joseph Maccracken (Martha) of Kansas City, MO, Molly Maccracken (Lauren Creighton) of Columbus, OH, Harriett Maccracken (Ed Stump) of Tempe, AZ, Nancy Brooks-Seibert (Bruce) of Midland, MI, Joan Carpenter (Jim) of Charlotte, NC, and Samuel Maccracken of St. Louis, MO; 14 grandchildren, Christopher, John (Amanda) and Sarah Maccracke; Kathryn Coff (Tim), Leslie Maccracken; Simon, Molly, Nicholas Stump; Jessie Jones (Aaron), Brian Siebert (Stephanie), Lindsay Seibert; Lily, Sam and David Carpenter; and Riley and Casey Maccracken; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Marion Veium of Spokane, WA. A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lancaster, OH. Memorials may be made to Hospice at the VA Medical Center, 1100 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28805.
