SCOTT Richard E. Scott, age 87, of Pickerington, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012. He was born March 3, 1925 in Columbus to the late Herschel J. and Erma W. Scott and was a 1943 graduate of Grandview High School; also a graduate of Franklin University and The Ohio State University. Dick proudly served during WWII in the U.S. Navy aboard the "Hart" destroyer in the Pacific Theatre and was a member of the "Tin Can Sailors". He worked for many years at Main Federal Savings & Loan and retired from the U.S. Dept. of Veteran's Affairs. He was a faithful member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church; also involved with Kiwanis, Rotary Int. and Sertoma. Dick was a member of Ralph R. Rickly Lodge #670 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Rickly Chapter of the Eastern Star #468 and a life member of the Order of the Golden Dragon and the Ancient Order of the Deep. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, bowling and helping anybody in need. He was a friend to everybody he met. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia A. Scott, brother Arthur B. Scott and his good friend Joseph P. Mock. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Roberta Scott; step-daughter, Cheryl (Jeff) Fridley; step-grandchildren, Shannon, Noah, Kyle and Mackenzie; step-great-grandchildren, Emily, Hanna and Addyson; sisters-in-law, Bernice Fickel and Margie (Jim) Lind; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (Masonic Service 7:30 p.m.) Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232 where service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Karen Bloom and Rev. Dr. Donald Swift, officiating; interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
