Tommie Denny Ramsey, "Tommie Lee" of Powell, Ohio, passed away at the age of 69 on September 7, 2018 at Kobacker House following an extended illness, with family beside her. Tommie was born in Charleston, West Virginia July 21, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Ellen Denny of Nitro, West Virginia, her niece Lisa Looney of Point Pleasant, West Virginia and brother-in-law Roger Long of Centerburg, Ohio. After graduating from Marshall University in Huntington West Virginia, she began her career as a journalist and communications specialist at the Charleston Gazette. Tommie's career which spanned 40 years also included positions with the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, Franklin County Children's Services, Columbus Board of Mental Health and Retardation, Booth Memorial Hospital, Riverside Methodist Hospital, This Week Newspapers, Action for Children and Business First. She was a member of the Junior Leagues of Boca Raton Florida and Columbus, Ohio and was an active volunteer for both the Children's Museum and Muscular Dystrophy Association. Her beauty, grace, charm, caring spirit, love of music and sense of humor will be missed by her many friends and family. Tommie is survived by her husband, Gary Ramsey of Powell, Ohio; her son Benjamin Ramsey and his wife Abigail Ramsey of Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles, California and sister Joann Hall of Centerburg, Ohio. A private celebration of her life with family and friends will take place in November. Donations in her memory, can be made to the Kobacker House, Columbus, Ohio or Habitat for Humanity.
