Valentine Yutzy, age 84, of Plain City, passed away peacefully at home Thursday evening, July 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 14, 1934 in Plain City to the late Emery N. and Florence (Kramer) Yutzy. Valentine was a missionary, farmer, mason, carpenter, engineer, consultant and served in Korea as a conscientious objector. He attended through the 10th grade at Chuckery Darby High School. He was a member of the United Bethel Mennonite Church, Plain City. Valentine was self-taught in all endeavors and became an Honorary Agriculture Engineer at OSU after being a consultant at the OSU Agriculture School for 10 years. He was Ohio Farmer of the year in 1989 and the following years rated in the top 10 in all farms in the USA. He was an inspirational speaker and curriculum advisor at OSU and voted Top Alumni at Eastern Mennonite University where he attended for 2 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Anne (Farmwald) Yutzy - 2017, brothers Ralph, Daniel and Norman, sister Lula Thomas. He is survived by children, Luke (Neva) Yutzy, Diane (Gayle) Henthorne, Valerie (Gregg) Chapman, Grace Yutzy and Valentine Matthew (Darlene) Yutzy; grandchildren, Kendra (Gary) Schlabach, Rebecca (Chris) Kramer, April (Marcus) Weaver, Nicole Yutzy, Andrea Henthorne, Kaitlin Henthorne, Emily (Dan) Sylvester, Mikayla Henthorne, Andrew Yutzy, Isaac Yutzy, Elijah Yutzy and Hannah Yutzy; great-grandchildren, Kylie Schlabach, Bristol Kramer, Kaelynn Kramer, Bensyn Weaver, Ellie Weaver and Gwen D'Aurelio; brothers, Homer (Elizabeth) Yutzy, Paul (Martha) Yutzy and Allen (Connie) Yutzy; sisters, Katherine Yutzy, Ada (Levi) Schlabach and Esther Zeitz. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Saturday at United Bethel Mennonite Church, 11342 Lafayette Plain City Rd., where the funeral will be held at 2 PM Sunday, July 15, 2018.
