Holbrook Virgil Holbrook, 96, of Circleville, died on Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was born on June 5, 1917 in Johnson County, Kentucky to Harry and Vessie (Weaver) Holbrook. Virgil's family came from Kentucky when Virgil was 8 years old moving to Pricetown, Ohio area. They were farmers for 46 years. Virgil and Virginia married in 1936 at Hillsboro Ohio Church of the Nazarene where they were very active in leadership until December 1970 when they relocated to a farm in Circleville, Ohio and again were very active in the First Church of the Nazarene in Circleville until 2012 when he transferred his membership to Grove City Church of the Nazarene. Virgil went to live with his daughter and son-in-law Olive and Harvey Hoagland in Grove City in September of 2008 and passed away in the loving arms of Olive and Harvey and into the arms of his Heavenly Father. Virgil and Virginia were very active in missionary work and donated the funds to build a church in Guatemala City, Guatemala named Holbrook Memorial Chapel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia (Lowe) Holbrook, brothers Hobart, Buford, Herbert and James Holbrook and sisters Moncia Holbrook and Juanita Swingley. Virgil is survived by children, Olive (Harvey) Hoagland of Grove City, Paul (Judy) Holbrook of Hillsboro; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; brother, Delbert Holbrook of Circleville; sisters, Mary Contner of Bellefontaine and Freda Lindsey of Circleville; and by 21 nieces and nephews and 51 great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at the First Church of Nazarene on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Jackson Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call at the WELLMAN FUNERAL HOME, Circleville on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Gideons.
