Nixon Robert W. Nixon was born on July 14, 1933 in Spartanburg, SC and passed away on April 18, 2013 in Columbus, OH. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Columbus City Schools after many years. Robert was an exceptional bowler who had a love for all sports. He was also a devoted family man who advocated lifelong learning and gave his time to help those less fortunate. Preceded in death by his former wife Charlene B. Gilchrist, daughter Kimberly Harris, sisters Margaret Thomas, Rachael Sanders, and Lucille Bomar. He leaves to cherish his memories, children, Kelly Franks, Melanise Nixon, Darcinia Nixon, Andy Garrison, David Nixon, Shawn (Dan'Nisha) Nixon, and son-in- law, Terry Walker, Sr.; grandchildren, Ranelle, Richard, Brandy, Brittany (Kevin), Terry, Jr. (Ezra), Eric, Brooklyn, and Danasha; siblings, William L. Nixon, Sr., Ruth Mae Haslett, Alma Riley, and Josephine Harris; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. The family will receive friends at the home of William L. Nixon, Sr. from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013. Funeral 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Genessee Avenue Church of Christ, 1889 Genessee Ave. Brother Sabin Johnson, Officiant.
