William Martin Obituary

Martin William Giese Martin died at home May 22, 2016. He was born to George D. and Emilie G. Martin, November 4, 1934, in Canton, Ohio. Growing up in Lancaster, Ohio, he attended public schools, graduated from Western Reserve Academy, received a B.A. from Yale and an LLB from Harvard Law. He practiced business and corporate law at Porter Wright. Will fulfilled his patriotic duty as a Naval officer; served his church, St. Alban's, as vestryman; and contributed widely to his community. In 1958, Will married Martha Justice and fathered three sons, William (Carol), Peter; and Fritz (Alexandra), who gave him two grandsons, Gabriel and Oliver. After 51 years in Jefferson Township, he and Martha moved to Issaquah, Washington, to be near their sons, where he became involved again. He was giving a U.S. history class to prepare aspiring citizens at the time of his death. He loved life, lived it fully, and shared laughter with everyone. A memorial service will be held June 1, at St. Michael and All Angels, Issaquah. Contributions to St. Albans or the Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra, 734 E. Long St., Columbus, Ohio 43203.
