Born in the small southwestern town of Selmar, Tenn., on Dec. 9, 1928, she was the third of six children born to Callie James Thomas and Winnie Worton Thomas.
Emolene loved spending time with her family, quilting, and had a smile that always lifted the spirits of those around her. She was a former, long-time member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church of Colt.
Her parents and four brothers, Floyd Thomas, J. C. Thomas, Harold Thomas and Billy-Jean Thomas preceded her in death.
In 1944, Emolene met and married Sam Lemones of Forrest City, who preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by one sister, Nancy Brewer of Wildersville, Tenn.; one brother, Travis Thomas of Hope; her four children, Jerry Lemones of Camden, Diane Campbell of Jonesboro, Kathy Norman (Gerald Norman) of Hot Springs Village, and Liz Jones of Camden. She was blessed and adored by 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, beginning at 1 p.m., and continuing until the time of the celebration of Emolene's life at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m.
