Betty Huckaby

Mrs. Betty Doris Harp Huckaby, 81, of Thomaston, died Thursday, October 24, 2013.

Mrs. Huckaby was a life-long resident of Thomaston and Upson County, daughter of the late A. T. Harp and Birdie McKinley Harp. She was a retired legal secretary and had most recently been employed by the legal firm of Adams, Barfield and Dunaway.

Mrs. Huckaby was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and served as the Director of Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also a former Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Upson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club.

Survivors include her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jane Huckaby, and a special cousin, Freddy (Cathy) Harp, all of Thomaston, and 11 first cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Huckaby will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church. Rev. Bob Wilson and Rev. Joey Smith will officiate and burial will follow in the Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Trinity Baptist Church from 1-2 p.m. Saturday

The family would like to publicly thank the staff of Thomaston Hospice for the loving, professional care extended to Mrs. Huckaby during her illness. A special thanks goes out to caregivers Martha Reeves, Cathy Howell, Sally Foster and Sonja Hudgins.
