Cecil Culverhouse

PEACHTREE CITY - Mr. Cecil Franklin Culverhouse age 89 of Peachtree City, Ga., formerly of Thomaston, died Tuesday April 15, 2014 at Prime Point, Ashley Glenn Assisted Living in Peachtree City, Ga.

Mr. Culverhouse was born in Taylor County to the late Hugh Nichler and Madie Pickard Culverhouse. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 3rd Army in Europe during WWII. He retired from the Georgia D.O.T. with 35 years of service, and was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church.

Mr. Culverhouse is preceded in death by his wife, Margrette Gooden Culverhouse. Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Jan (Jay) Stewart, of Peachtree City; son, David (Kay Halligan) Culverhouse, of Savannah; and sister, Mrs. Ruby C. Guy, of Butler. One grandchild, Lindsey (Jason) Moschner, and one great-grandchild, Cecilia Moschner, also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Culverhouse will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home , with burial to follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday April 17, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 707, Thomaston, GA. 30286.
