THOMASTON - Mr. Haywood Arthur Shaw, age 85, of Thomaston Ga., died October 2, 2013 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Shaw was born in Malden, Mass., to the late Jacob Willis and Cora Blackwood Shaw. He is a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Tumult. He retired after 32 years as an Auditor and Engineer for the Georgia DOT, and was a member of the Thomaston First United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his son Bill Shaw. Survivors include his wife Bessie Shaw of Thomaston; daughter Kathy (Rick) Tucker of Thomaston; daughter-in-law Faye Shaw of Thomaston; grandsons Ryan (Elizabeth) Tucker of Matthews NC; and Joseph Shaw of Thomaston; grandaughters Amy (Jeremy) Tucker Daniel of Thomaston, and Amanda Shaw of Columbus; and great-grandaughter Kaitlyn Shaw Daniel.

Funeral services for Mr. Shaw will be held Friday October 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Thomaston First United Methodist Church, with entombment following in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Thursday October 3, 2013 at Coggins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Upson Regional Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Unit, 801 W. Gordon St., Thomaston GA 30286.

Coggins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
