Lewis Allen Bristow Sr. of West Palm Beach, FL died Monday February 4, 2013. Born December 8, 1927 in Richmond, VA, he was the son of Fay Louise Baumgardner & Dr. Otis Allen Bristow Sr. of West Point, VA and the grandson of Fannie Bet Brooks & Burke Bristow of Saluda, VA as well as Harriet Louise Dermid & Lewis Monroe Baumgardner of Asheville, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Harriet Louise Bristow, a brother, Dr. Otis Allen Bristow Jr., and former wife, Ann Gwyneth Glavin. Lewis graduated from West Point High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1952 from Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William & Mary (now Virginia Commonwealth University). He developed a number of business entities over the years including a construction firm which was awarded several federal contracts. He had a lifelong love of flying, a skill he acquired as a teenager, and one of the first of several planes he owned was a B-25 which he kept at the West Point Municipal Airport. He served in the Civil Air Patrol, was a member of the Virginia Pilots Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Lewis is survived by his children Karen Gwyneth Bristow Hecox Hargreaves, Lewis Allen Bristow Jr., and Eric Allen Bristow, four grandchildren, Cassandra Gwyneth Hecox, Sean Joseph Richard Hecox, Ashleigh Bristow and Erica Bristow and Great-grandchild Kayleigh-Ann Bristow. He will be missed by sister-in-law, Robin Burguières Bristow, nieces Leila Marie Bristow and Marie Bristow White, nephew Otis Allen Bristow III and grandniece Lauren Brooke Bristow. Visitation will be held at 1PM on Saturday, February 9th with a service at 2PM at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA.
