Davis, Lucia Alves "Lucy"
LUCIA "LUCY" ALVES DAVIS passed away in Picayune, MS on February 21, 2015 at the age of 77. Lucy was born in Arcata on December 20, 1937 to Frank Alves and Rose Martin Toledo. Lucy spent her childhood and early adult years in Arcata and Eureka but moved to Mississippi and there she stayed and raised her family. Lucy married Walter "Buddy" Davis in 1953. Lucy was hard-working and industrious all of her life. She and Buddy had a successful janitorial business and she was also employed as an apartment manager. Lucy had a very happy and satisfying life both personally and spiritually. While living in Eureka, Lucy started studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and continued her studies after moving to Mississippi. She was baptized nearly 60 years ago and spent her entire life devoted to helping others learn about the Bible. She was the kindest and most loving person you could ever know. People were drawn to her bright eyes, quick smile, hearty laugh and sassy sense of humor. She absolutely loved to talk to people about the Bible and explained its truths in such a simple and dignified way. She was very hospitable and everyone was welcome to stop by, have a cup of coffee and a yummy treat. She was the epitome of a wonderful Southern cook--everything she made was delicious and made with such love. We love her so much and she will be dearly missed. Lucy was preceded in death in 2006 by her husband of 53 years Buddy; her father Frank (1963); her mother Rose (1975); her brothers Albert (1999) and Hilary (1984); and her sister Jeanie Carvalho (2011). Survivors include daughters Karen Bolling (Bobby); Vicky Fauquier (Wayne); Julie Torres; Tina Lane (Scott); son Fred Davis, Jr. (Teena) and 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Frank Alves of Redding, CA and Ernie Alves (Gloria) of Eureka, CA. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 3 PM at Magnolia Columns in Picayune, MS. Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home, .
