Lucchesi, Dawn
DAWN LUCCHESI Dawn Joan Lucchesi, 90, of Eureka, died Wednesday, May 20 in Eureka. She was born July 30, 1924 in Chicago, IL. She was predeceased by her loving husband Charles Lucchesi and their son Scott and grandson Mark. Survivors include her daughters Karen Berman (Ron), Bayside; and Joni Bransetter (Steve), Redding; grandchildren Ben Sipma (Inga), Eureka; Kate Sipma Adams (Colin), Bayside; Shawn Lucchesi (Monica) Henderson, Nevada; Lyric Lucchesi, Payson, Arizona and great-grandchildren Ruby and Reese Sipma and Nathan Adams, and Caitlin and Chance Lucchesi. The Lucchesi's lived in Santa Rosa, CA until 1967 when they moved to Eureka when Charles became vice president at College of the Redwoods. Mom lived a very full, vibrant and rich life. She met dad at a UC, Berkeley dance and they forever claimed "and we've been dancing ever since." And, that was true.they loved to dance, laugh and love. Their love showed through to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A dedicated mother and grandmother she was a huge part of their lives encouraging them in every endeavor. Mom was a wonderful artist who began drawing when she was a child and continued painting into her 70s. She was a founding member of Redwood Art Association, had many successful one-woman shows and received many awards for her art. Many Eureka families have her beautiful artwork in their homes. Mom was a member of PEO, a fabulous bridge player, and loved to entertain in her home. She and Dad had many wonderful friends. She traveled many miles with Dad in their trusty, small motor home to many tennis tournaments. Mom was a constant cheerleader to Dad's many competitive tournaments as he was nationally ranked into his 80s. They made many wonderful friends through their travels. The family also enjoyed many years with their houseboat on Trinity Lake and vacationing at Lake Tahoe. We were all very blessed to have our Mom and Dad in our lives. We are all comforted by the thought that she and my Dad are dancing together right now. A memorial service will be held for family and friends of Dawn Lucchesi Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10am at the Fireside Room at First Presbyterian Church in Eureka. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Redwood Art Association or to the charity of your choice. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard under obituaries.
