Albert J. "Dozer" Cardoza

Albert J. Cardoza "Dozer" Albert J. Cardoza "Dozer", 76, went home to be with the lord on January 29, 2014. Albert died peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka with his family at his side. Albert was born in Scotia, CA on December 17, 1937 to John S. and Georgina J. Carodza. He lived his entire life in Fortuna. In 1943 his family moved from Scotia to Metropolitan to operate a dairy. Albert attended a small one-room schoolhouse in Metropolitan for a short time before attending Fortuna elementary and Fortuna High School. He started work for the Pacific Lumber Company in the late 50's. On October 17, 1962 he joined the U.S. Army, was stationed at Fort Ord, California and then transferred to Georgia. After serving nine months, he was sent home to take care of his Mother and Sister after his Father's death. In 1970 he owned and operated a dairy in Metropolitan. After a few years, he moved his dairy operation to Fernbridge. In 1979 he sold his dairy operation and entered into the bartending business, a job he thoroughly enjoyed, as he loved socializing with people and made many life long friends. Albert's real love was his sports, as the Forty Niners and Dodgers were his all time favorite teams. If you ever wanted to find Albert, all you had to do was look for the closest TV that was airing a game. Albert was a very loving father to his children and grandchildren, a loving brother to his brothers, sister and a very well likeable man by his friends. He is survived by his children Randy (Kathy) Cardoza, Brook (Leea) Cardoza, Trina Cardoza (Steve). Stepchildren Juanita Bristol (Clay), Kelly Black, Keith Black, Darnell Cardoza, Brother Henry (Alaris) Cardoza, Sister Marlene (Floyd) Whitlow, Grandchildren David and Daniel Cardoza and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Albert is preceded in death by his Father, John S. Cardoza; Mother, Georgina J. Cardoza; Brother, John P. Cardoza; Nephews, Michael and Tim Cardoza: Niece, Cindy Cardoza. Family and friends are invited to join the immediate family at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 14th and N Streets Fortuna, California on Monday, February 3, 2014 for a Rosary Service at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery, 3315 Newburg Road, in Fortuna. There will be a celebration of life at 6:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2014 at the VFW Hall, 1426 Main Street in Fortuna. Casket bearers will be Randy Cardoza, Brook Cardoza, Steve Wilson, Cameron Cardoza, Brian Dewberry and Tony Machado Jr. Honorary casket bearers will be Mark Cardoza, Tony Machado Sr., Barry Mendenhall, Ricky Rudd, Joey Sancho and Brian Wells. The family would like to specially thank Dr. Palmer, Dr. Fratkin and the wonderful nurses and staff at St. Joseph Hospital with a very special thank you to Todd D.
