Claire Speier Seidell Claire Speier Seidell 97 died peacefully on September 24, 2013. Edna Claire was born in Samoa, CA to George and Edna Speier on February 25, 1916. Claire graduated from Arcata High School and attended Humboldt State College and was secretary to President Gist before becoming a stay-at-home mom who was at one time in three different PTAs! She married John "Guffy" Gustafson in 1941 and had three children, and in 1968 married Charles Timmons who was the true love of her life. Just before retiring from Eureka City Schools, Claire married Marlin Seidell and spent almost 30 years at their beloved Eagle Lake, CA. Claire was a very loving person who was always smiling and who loved cooking, dancing, playing bridge and was maybe the last of the "Sew What Club" - friends from early school days who met each month for many years. She was predeceased by her husbands, siblings Lynwood Speier and Mary Emily Dick and son Kent Gustafson. She is survived by her son David Gustafson and daughter Susan Ryden; brother Ted Speier (Junie); grandchildren: Max Norling, Lindsey Reichlin, Dan Gustafson and Juleen McGonigal; greatgrandchildren: Lane and Sierra Reichlin and Gunnar, Casey and Carson Gustafson; nieces: Linda Speier, Jean Yates, Deanna Dick, Doralee Smith, Teddie Bell and Shannon Speier; nephews: Darol Dick and Spencer Speier. The family thanks the wonderful and loving staff at Frye's Care Home! A "Celebration of Claire's life" will be December 22nd, 2-4 p.m. at the Plaza View Room, Jacoby's Storehouse in Arcata.
