Debra Joyce (Russell) Nordstrom

Debra Joyce (Russell) Nordstrom Debra Joyce (Russell) Nordstrom went to heaven after a short battle with liver cancer on November 15, 2012. She fought to the very end and never lost her sense of humor. Deb was born November 14, 1956, in Eureka, Ca to Robert and Beverly Russell. Deb spent most of her life living in Humboldt County. She attended Fortuna High School, where she was popular and had many friends. She enjoyed hunting with her dad, camping and waterskiing with her family at Ruth Lake, and cooking like her mom. She loved telling stories about her fighting with her sisters over clothes and boys when they were teenagers. Deb enjoyed working at Rio Dell School when her boys were growing up. She was a second mom to many of their friends. She also worked at Richard Millers, where she met her soul mate, Rod Nordstrom. In 2002, she married the love of her life and enjoyed spending the last 10 years with him. Deb spent the last 12 years working for McCrea Nissan in Eureka. Deb loved going out to her property where she spent time around her swimming pool and riding quads with her grandchildren. Her family and grandchildren were her life. She loved taking shopping trips with her daughter-in-law, going to concerts, taking her "sister" trips to Hawaii, and going to dinner and a movie with her husband. She enjoyed watching her boys grow up and supported them through all there activities such as football, baseball, motorcycling racing, and hunting. She taught her boys that you don't need much in life as long as you have each other. Deb's favorite time of year was Thanksgiving and Christmas. She enjoyed cooking enough food to feed an army, baking dozens of cookies (with her girls) for her friends and family, spoiling her grand babies, and decorating her house. She always made a big deal about Valentine's Day, since that was the day Rod purposed to her. She always had a supply of ice cream,, cool whip, and sprinkles on hand for her grandkids. Deb was also there to help out whenever someone needed a hand and was always there to listen to everyone. She called her boys every night just to see how there day was. She was a kind and amazing woman who truly be missed. Deb is preceded in death by her father-in-law Ray Nordstrom. Deb is survived by her parents Robert and BEverly Russell; her husband Rod Nordstrom; her boys Ryan, Dustin (Seylena), Matt (Alisha) Moore, and Fred (Tonja) Nordstrom; her sisters Janice (Tony) Leonardo, and Bobbie (Paul) Coffer; mother-in-law Alda Nordstrom; and sister-in-law Nancy (Dave) Ambrosini, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kaiya, Aaron, Ivan, Alexia, Nadya, Ashten, Devynn and Kaycee. She also leaves behind her good friends Debbie Frith, Kim Porter, Kelly Sampson, and Dakota Daetwiler, along with her McCrea Nissan family. The family would like to thank Hospice for all of their support, especially to Scotty Mateu who was Deb's nurse. We would also like to thank Cindy from oncology at St. Joe's Hospital.
