Dennis Darwin Presley passed away October 26, 2012, at home in beautiful Fieldbrook, California at the age of 67. He was born to Orville Eugene Presley and Mary Lou Presley in Los Angeles, California on December 3, 1944. Dennis was the youngest of 7 siblings, and the last surviving brother. When he was 5, he and his family moved to Fresno and then to Humboldt County as a reluctant 17 year old. Eventually, he fell in love with this area. He married Barbara Rudene Griffis on March 6, 1965. Together, they had two children-Deanna and Ryan. He worked for Simpson Timber for 10 years, before embarking on his next career in sales, and worked for numerous companies over the years. Dennis moved to Portland in 1981, following his divorce. It was there in 1988 that he met his partner, Pamela, who was with him for the remainder of his life. Together, they shared a love of beautiful antiques and travel, as well as a business together "Barbers to Go." With Pamela, Dennis returned to Humboldt County in 2009. Those lucky enough to be in Dennis' company enjoyed his wicked sense of humor. He loved going to Vegas and was a master at impersonations. Other fond memories were the times he spent with his daughter Deanna and grandson Riley during their annual visits to see him by the Columbia River during 4th of July. It was a week of cherished quality time for all of them, with swimming, fireworks, movies and long chats. Life was a party to him, always worth celebrating. There are no words to express how much he meant to those who loved him-he will be missed terribly. Dennis is survived by his partner Pamela Golden, daughter Deanna Presley-Miller (Nathan), son Ryan Presley, and grandchildren Riley Presley-Porter and Piper Presley-Miller. He is also survived by his sister Marge Church (as the youngest children, they were extremely close), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four brothers- Robert, Roger, Bruce and Larry Presley and sister Lenora Gill as well as his parents. A celebration of life will be held at the home of Deanna Presley-Miller at 1750 Noble Court in McKinleyville on Saturday, December 1 at 2 pm. Please bring your best memories and stories to share.
