Douglas L. Schlobohm

Douglas L. Schlobohm 5/7/45-3/15/13 Died much too soon from pneumonia and cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years Sheila Gangemi, sons Erik and John, his daughter Trisha, granddaughters Jessica and Miranda, sister Laura and their spouses. He will have to look down from Heaven to greet his next grandchild in July. Doug was born in Illinois and moved to California after serving in the Navy. He moved to Humboldt County in 1980 and never looked back. He loved it here and we're sure his spirit will remain. Doug was a man of numerous pursuits. Most people here know him from his whale sculptings. He was also a photographer, woodworker, biker (did the century 3 times) and collector of numerous antiques. He did African and Samba dancing and did the local and not local art/craft shows. He could discuss politics with little promoting. Doug was a kind honest man who loved his family and life. We who are left behind are grateful that we were part of his life and we are better for it. As per his wishes there will be no formal ceremonies; buy some local art in his name. God must have needed some whale mobiles. Please sign the guest book at www.Times-Standard.com, click obits.
