Douglas McCready Jr.

Douglas McCready, Jr Douglas McCready, Jr passed away March 4, 2013. He was borne on July 1, 1938. Doug grew up in Arcata where he went to work at the age of 15 at one of the mills. After graduating from Arcata High School he joined the National Guard which he served in for 26 years. He was a Longshoreman with ILWU 12 for 35 years where he traveled up and down the coast from Aberdeen, Washington to Los Angeles, California loading and unloading ships. After retiring Doug and his wife, Bonnie traveled in their 5th wheel throughout the United States. For the last 14 years, Doug and Bonnie divided their time between North Bend, Oregon and as snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona. Doug is survived by his high school sweetheart Bonnie Hand, his sister Mary Jo Silbernagle, step-sister Janet Smiley, brothers Gary and Richard Johnson, and aunt Helen Paskvan. Preceding him in death were his parents Douglas McCready and Evelyn Smith, sisters Tammy Radley and Maria Johnson. Doug had a very unique and special relationship with his three daughters and their husbands; Mary Ann (Jim) Hale, Linda (Gerry) Hall, and Joey Moulton. He took special delight in interacting individually with each of his grandchildren; Elizabeth (AJ) Lambert, Casey (Emily) Moulton, Christopher Moulton, Brian Moulton, Travis Moulton, Matthew (Courtney) Hale, Jacob Hale; and great-grandchildren Siera Moulton, Haley Lambert, Cooper Lambert, and Makayla Moulton.
