Elaine married David Hoyerdahl on December 22nd, 1963 and they later had their daughters Anita and Jessica. Elaine lived and worked in Humboldt County her whole life. Her skill and love for cooking brought her to work in many local restaurants including Pete's Bella Vista, Michael's Steaks and Spirits and The Whaler's Inn. Elaine had to stop cooking in restaurants due to health problems but that never stopped her from filling her kitchen with great food and love for her family and extended family to share. If you ever came to a holiday at our house, you were greeted with a smile, hug and tons of food and laughter. Mom believed that our home is your home, always taking in anyone going through hard times or who just needed someone to care. She had the kindest and caring heart. Elaine was also a survivor. She struggled through many health problems and always pulled through. There was countless times the odds were against her and she would say "No, I still have more fight in me." And to everyone's amazement, including her doctors, she would bounce back. Though our lives will never be the same without her and her passing left us with a huge hole in our hearts, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and reunited with loved ones above. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Hazel Howard, her brother Jackson Howard Jr. and numerous loved ones. Elaine is survived by her husband David Hoyerdahl, children Anita Miller (Kevin), Jessica Hoyerdahl (Coleman Andersen) grandchildren Brittany, Athena, Carissa, and Rogan Miller and unborn grandchild Arianna Andersen, nephew Joseph Oswalt and family, Clancy Carnes, who was like a daughter to her and family.
